I found a situation where a drilled hole that is not aligned with the bolt mechanism caused the motor in the electronic lock to be over stressed and fail.
The strike plate was neglected and a drive in for the bolt used. In this case, the motor was left working only intermittently and the lock non- functional. Thankfully, the lock manufacturer may be willing to provide a refund for the damaged lock.
For now, we installed a new electronic lock and positioned the strike plate and bolt properly. It works beautifully and now covered by our warrantee. Done right the first time is always best!
