Was out at a local business recently servicing a Paddle Handle that had been sprung. The door closer was leaking hydraulic fluid. It caused the door to slam. This caused parts of the door mechanism to come loose and the latch to become damaged due to persistent use in such a condition.
If it had been serviced right away, a tightening is all that would have been needed. But as it was, a new paddle handle was required and cost more.
All that to say, minding your hardware is repaired as soon as it becomes damaged is worth it.
